The most common treatment that utilizes dental implant technology is single tooth replacement. As the name suggests, this means that there is only one missing tooth that requires replacement. When only a single tooth needs to be replaced, an implant is placed in the jawbone where that tooth’s root used to be, and a crown is then placed on top once a healing process has been completed.
Multiple Teeth Replacement
When multiple teeth require replacing, many patients believe that every missing tooth requires its own implant. When multiple teeth need to be replaced in this matter, this is when your dentist may suggest…
Bridgework and Removable Dentures
A bridge is a row of artificial teeth designed to be indistinguishable from your natural teeth. Again, a bridge only requires 2-4 dental implants, or maybe 6 at the most depending on the severity of the tooth loss. For example, if a patient has gone years with missing teeth, a high degree of bone loss may have occurred, making 4 or 6 dental implants necessary to restore the mouth to optimal health and strength.
As you can see, dental implants can come into play in a variety of ways when it comes to restoring your smile! If you have any questions about these procedures or how you may be able to benefit from them, don’t hesitate to contact our office here!
